About
Sapphic Romance Reviews is a reading blog for anyone looking for their next love story between women. We write recommendations and reading guides for sapphic and lesbian romance, from cozy small-town slow burns to dark, high-stakes WLW fiction, and we try to answer the questions readers actually ask before they buy a book: How slow is the burn? How spicy is it? Is there a happy ending? What should I know before I start?
What you'll find here
- Reading guides by mood and trope, such as slow burns, cozy reads, ice queens, age gap and enemies to lovers.
- Seasonal lists for Halloween, the holidays and summer reading.
- Genre roundups covering fantasy, historical, mystery, horror, YA and more.
- Explainers about how to find sapphic books and how the book market works for queer readers.
If you're new, the Start Here page lists every guide in one place.
How we choose books
We don't recommend books based on a blurb alone. Almost every book we feature has a full, published review that covers the plot setup, tropes, heat level, ending and content notes, and we link to that review every time a book is mentioned so you can check the details yourself. We try to say who a book is right for and who might want to skip it, because the best recommendation is the one that matches your mood.
When readers disagree about a book, we say so. When we haven't confirmed something, such as a book's heat level or ending, we don't guess.
Our sources
This blog is part of a small family of romance-reading sites run by the same team. We rely on them for our research and link to them often:
- Lesbian Romance Reads publishes our full sapphic book reviews, plus in-depth guides like the best sapphic romance books and sapphic books in every genre.
- Eikna Romance covers romance more broadly, with researched assessments and guides to subgenres, tropes, heat and endings.
- EIKNA is a romance discovery platform where you can search by mood, trope, genre or heat, or ask its reading assistant to help you choose.
The author of MATELDA: In Silence We Forgive, which appears in some of our posts, is also connected to this blog. You can read more in our Privacy and Disclosure page.
